Hot Stone Reflexology Massage originated in India and China and has been around for centuries; ancient civilizations believed that hot stones cleansed the body and relaxed the heart, grounding the soul and soothing the mind. As the name implies, the treatment involves using smooth stones which are heated and are used to massage the lower leg and to carry out the reflexology.
By using a series of small and large stones we can generate 5 times more the impact on reflex areas and can also work the Chakras on the foot to promote balance.
Cold Stone Therapy, also known as Cryotherapy, works on the principle of heat exchange. This occurs when a cooler object is placed in direct contact with an object of warmer temperature – inflamed areas of the body; the cooler object will absorb the heat of the warmer object in an attempt to achieve balance.
During a treatment you will be asked to lie fully clothed on a massage couch where a series of stones will be placed upon this and you will lay of top of them.
The treatment will then be carried out combining massage touch on pressure points and reflexes and the use of the stones.
Heat penetrates to a much deeper level than finger pressure, reaching around 7cm into tissues.
